The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mar
Baselios College of Education, Sulthan Bathery, in collaboration with the
Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework (KIRF), organized an In-House Curriculum
Planning Meeting on 16 June 2026 at 10.00 a.m. in the College Auditorium. The
meeting was convened to discuss curriculum planning, academic strategies, and
institutional initiatives for enhancing the quality of teacher education in
alignment with the vision and mission of the institution and the academic regulations
of the University of Calicut.
The programme commenced with a prayer led by Ms.
Varshamol, Assistant Professor in Visual Arts, invoking divine blessings for
the successful conduct of the meeting. This was followed by a welcome address
delivered by Dr. Jayakala M., Assistant Professor in Physical Science, who
served as the Programme Convenor. She warmly welcomed the Principal, faculty
members, and participants and highlighted the significance of collaborative
curriculum planning in ensuring academic excellence and continuous quality
improvement.
The meeting was presided over by Dr. Sunith Kumar
G. N., Principal, who served as the General Convenor. In his presidential
address, he emphasized the importance of systematic curriculum planning in
achieving the Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and Course Learning Outcomes
(CLOs) of the B.Ed. programme. He encouraged the faculty members to adopt
innovative pedagogical approaches, strengthen outcome-based education, and
integrate technology, research, value education, and experiential learning into
classroom practices.
A felicitation address was delivered by Ms.
Chithira P. C., Vice Principal, who appreciated the initiative taken by the
IQAC in organizing the curriculum planning meeting. She stressed the need for
collective planning, academic innovation, and effective implementation of
curricular and co-curricular activities to enhance the quality of teacher
education.
The core session focused on Curriculum Planning and
Academic Activities, during which faculty members engaged in comprehensive
discussions on semester-wise academic planning, course transactions, internal
assessment strategies, practicum activities, school internship, community
engagement programmes, extension activities, value-added courses, and student
support initiatives. Special emphasis was given to integrating innovative
teaching methodologies, digital learning resources, outcome-based assessment,
and multidisciplinary approaches to improve the effectiveness of the B.Ed.
programme.
An Open Forum was conducted, providing faculty
members with an opportunity to share suggestions, discuss challenges, and
propose innovative ideas for strengthening curriculum implementation and
institutional academic practices. The discussions were highly productive and
resulted in several valuable recommendations for improving teaching-learning
processes, student engagement, and quality assurance mechanisms.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks
proposed by Ms. Thushara P. Paulose, Assistant Professor in Social Science and
Staff Secretary, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Principal, Vice
Principal, faculty members, the IQAC, and all participants for their valuable
contributions and active participation. The meeting concluded with the National
Anthem.
The In-House Curriculum Planning Meeting proved to
be a fruitful academic exercise that fostered collaborative planning,
reflective discussions, and strategic decision-making. It reinforced the
institution's commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and continuous
quality enhancement in teacher education, ensuring the effective implementation
of a learner-centred and outcome-based curriculum for the academic year.
