At Noolpuzha MRS

8th June 2024

Three among the thrive volunteers (Arathi, Minsha and Sandra) from our college had visited the MRS for the first the time. They started the session with a warm up exercise. To check the language abilities the had gone through many activities. Hence they arrived that many of the students felt difficulties in communication due to poor language. Moreover they found that students are very active in cultural performance.


29th June 2024

From our group six of the volunteers (Shilpa Sunil, Aswathi Varghese, Merin Elza Baiju, Ashmila Jasmin, Lakshminanda Suresh, Merin kuriachan) had visited the MRS. We started the session by introducing their friend with an idea to reduce their stage fear. And we divided the students into groups and activities were given. What we understand was that students have a tendency to imitate the interest and goals of their friends. Also cultural activities seem to engage student’s interest more than academics.




6th July 2024

Among our volunteers six (Akhila Shaji, Devika T, Arifa T. A, Kavya Sasinas, Chinnu Sara Jose, Haripriya P) were handled the classes. There was a self introduction session, leaded by the conversation about their goals. And it end with games which enhance the creativity of the students. Here we understand that students are reluctant to stand in front of others and express their ideas.    


10th August 2024

On this day eight of the volunteers (Avani Jesudas, Aravind N. K, Akhila Shaji, Kavya Sasinas, Chinnu Sara Jose, Haripriya P, Lakshminanda Suresh, Nahna Rahman) visited the MRS. The session begins with group formation games and provided a brief description about district, panchayath and taluk. We were able to cover one of the unit from the syllabus. At the last we found that some of the students hesitate to participate in activities, citing minor complaints such as aches and pains. Students are hesitant to speak in Malayalam and prefer using their native language. Students often feel bored and fatigued because of a week of intensive classes hence they wish for entertainment or programs over traditional lessons.


19th October 2024

From our group nine of the volunteers (Arathi.D, Shilpa Sunil, Akhila Shaji, Aswathi Varghese, Kavya Sasinas, Haripriya.P, Devika.K, Sandra Sanil.K, Arifa.T.A) visited the MRS. We begin with a warm up activity. And we discussed about the parliament, rajasabha, loksabha…etc. Also we check the previous knowledge about the students. Most of the students are aware about the democratic system of India. Few among the students are bright in general knowledge. They are curious in learning.





9th November 2024

On this day three of the volunteers (Shilpa Sunil, Aswathi Varghese, Merin Elsa Baiju) visited the MRS. There were also students from Don Bosco college. We together lead the session. We begin with the session with a warm up activity. The classes was to develop the language skills of the children. The session started with a game to check the knowledge and writing skills of the students. We three encourage the students to take part in game. And other lead the classes. We found that most of the students are aware about the places, names of birds, animals, names of famous persons. But students have difficulty in writing, there were spelling mistakes. And we help the students to correct it.

30th November 2024

On this day five volunteers ( Lakshminanda Suresh, Shilpa Sunil, Aswathi Varghese, Kripa, Merin Kuriachan) Visited the MRS. The session began with a warm up activity. The children of age group 10 to 13 years was there in the class. The session focused on general awareness, which include district names and peculiarities of districts. The goal was to familiarize them with the district names. We introduce the concept through songs and games. We also spend time for student’s cultural activities.


18th January 2025

Three volunteers among our group (Kavya Sasinas, Devika.K, Haripriya.P) had visited the MRS. We started the class by revising constitution rights, hence it lead to the topic gender inequality. We introduce the topic through a game. Moreover we discuss about the importance of constitution and self independence to facing problem. It seems the students are actively engaged and demonstrating good understanding when it comes to academic discussions or answering questions, but they exhibit shyness when participating in mixed-gender activities or games. This indicates a social interaction barrier, likely due to hesitation or lack of confidence in such settings. Identifying this issue is crucial to fostering an inclusive and comfortable learning environment. 

                          

17th February 2025

From our group two of the volunteers (Shilpa Sunil and Aswathi Varghese) visited the MRS. Our duty is collect the artifacts from the students for the magazine. On our last visit we had already announced about the magazine and tell them to contribute their ideas. Hence we collected them all and took the photos of the students for editorial purpose.
