Report on Anti-Drug Awareness Program at Mar Baselios college of education Sulthan Bathery in collaboration with Excise department.
On 28 July 2025, Mar Baselios college of Education hosted an anti-drug awareness program to educate
students about the dangers of drug use. The program featured a presentation by Nicolas Jose, a civil excise
officer, who discussed the negative effects of drugs and alcohol
Mr. Nicolas Jose spoke about the dangers of tobacco, alcohol, and other narcotics. He also discussed the laws
and regulations related to drug use. The presentation was interactive, with students asking questions and
participating in discussions. He mentioned the diseases caused by alcohol and tobacco, such as Alzheimer's,
Parkinson's, and cancer. He emphasized the importance of regular exercise and a healthy diet in maintaining
overall health and preventing substance abuse. He also mentioned that the Kerala State Beverages
Corporation collects 60 crore rupees in revenue daily, underscoring the widespread use of alcohol in the state.
Mr. Nicolas visited our college as part of the Vimukthi program. Vimukthi is an initiative by the Kerala
government to raise awareness against drug abuse, and this program was conducted in our college as part of
that initiative.
