Report on World Nature Conservation Day 2025 was coordinated by the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, in collaboration with K-DISC, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, IQAC, and the college.
As the part of World Nature Conservation Day 2025 was observed with great enthusiasm at Mar Baselios College of Education, Sulthan Bathery, on 26th July 2025. The programme was coordinated by M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation.
The programme began sharply 11Am with a soulful prayer song by Ms. Neetha C, a first-year Natural Science student. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Mrs. Jayakala M, Vice Principal and Programme Convener, who emphasized the significance of conserving nature and the importance of observing such a day.
A key highlight of the event was a captivating awareness session by Dr. Joseph John, a renowned scientist, who spoke on “Biodiversity Conservation.” He shed light on the current environmental challenges, the adverse effects of population growth and human interference on biodiversity.
Adding to the experience was an interactive and educational activity called “Habitat Mapping,” introduced by Mr. Sujith. All the students were divided into five groups and each group was assigned a specific area within the college campus. The students observed and documented the various plants, trees, insects, and organisms they encountered. Their findings were creatively compiled and presented in the form of informative charts.
The programme was concluded on a gracious note with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Neetha C, Student Convener, who sincerely appreciated the efforts of everyone involved — from the guest speaker and organisers to the faculty and fellow students — for making the event a meaningful and memorable one.
