Intercollegiate Mobile Photography Contest
International Workers’ Day – May 1, 2025
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit No: 265 of Mar Baselios College of Education, Sulthan Bathery, in collaboration with Group Aaveg, organized an Intercollegiate Mobile Photography Contest as part of the observance of International Workers’ Day on May 1, 2025. The theme of the contest was “Capture the Spirit of Labour Day,” aiming to honor and recognize the dignity, resilience, and contributions of workers through the lens of student photographers. The event invited entries from students across various colleges, allowing only original mobile photographs (no AI or stock images), with basic editing permitted and in high-resolution formats (JPG/PNG). Each participant could submit only one entry on or before May 5, 2025.
The program received enthusiastic participation from different institutions, with students showcasing powerful and creative representations of laborers in action. The submissions were evaluated based on their relevance to the theme, originality, emotional appeal, and visual impact. After thorough judgment, Fathima Rifa C.K from Farook Training College was declared the winner of the contest. Her photograph compellingly captured the essence of a laborer’s daily struggles and strength, resonating deeply with the theme.
The success of the program was made possible through the leadership of Dr. Sunith Kumar G. N, Principal and General Convenor; Mr. Rajeesh Kumar K. K, NSS Programme Officer and Assistant Professor in Commerce; and Gourisree Dileep, NSS Volunteer and Student Convenor. Additionally, the event was coordinated by the enthusiastic members of Group Aaveg, who played an active role in planning, organizing, and managing submissions and communications. Their collective effort ensured the smooth conduct of the event and active engagement of participants.
The event not only celebrated the spirit of labor but also provided a platform for students to creatively express social awareness through photography. Winners were awarded exciting prizes and certificates, encouraging continued participation in socially meaningful initiatives. Overall, the program was a remarkable success, combining creativity, teamwork, and social consciousness.
