Report of the In-House Curriculum Planning Meeting

An in-house curriculum planning meeting was conducted on 13th June 2025 at the Principal’s room of Mar Baselios College of Education, Sulthan Bathery. The meeting aimed at reviewing and strengthening various aspects of the teacher education programme, including the teaching-learning process and the internship structure.
The session commenced with a welcome speech by Mr. Rejeesh Kumar K. K., Internship In-Charge. He highlighted the significance of collaborative planning to improve the academic and internship components of the curriculum.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Sunithkumar G. N., Principal of the institution. He emphasized the need for continuous evaluation and innovation in teacher education to meet
contemporary educational demands.
The meeting proceeded as per the following agenda:
1. Discussion about the Teaching-Learning Process
The participants engaged in an in-depth discussion about the current teaching-learning methodologies being followed. Suggestions were made for integrating more learner-centred and activity-based strategies to enhance student engagement.
2. An Analysis of the Strength and Weakness of the Current Teacher Education Programme
A detailed analysis was undertaken to identify the strengths, including committed faculty and supportive infrastructure, and the weaknesses, such as limited ICT integration and the need for more practical exposure.
3. Thoughts and Recommendations for Enhancing the Internship Programme
Several recommendations emerged, including establishing stronger partnerships with local schools, providing pre-internship workshops, and introducing reflective practice sessions for interns.
4. Discussion on School Internship Implementation Strategy and Schedule. The strategy for implementing the school internship was discussed. A tentative schedule was proposed, ensuring alignment with the academic calendar of the cooperating schools. The importance of continuous monitoring and feedback during the internship was also highlighted.
The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Bini Mary Mathew, Staff Secretary, who expressed gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and
constructive suggestions.
