Report on Day 3 of the NSS Seven Days Camp
23rd December 2024
'Kalari'
The third day (23rd December 2024) of the Aaramam NSS Camp began with an invigorating
*Kalari* session led by Haridas Sir, which started at 6:30 am on the auditorium
ground. Kalari, a traditional martial art form, holds great significance as it
not only promotes physical fitness but also instills discipline, mental focus,
and self-awareness in participants. The students thoroughly enjoyed the
session, as it offered them an opportunity to connect with their cultural
heritage while simultaneously improving their physical endurance and
coordination. The movements and techniques taught in Kalari emphasize balance
and control, encouraging students to be mindful of their body and surroundings.
Assembly
The programme committee of the day conducted the assembly at 8 am. The assembly began with NSS song, followed by a thought, news reading and message from the programme officer. Mrs. Bini Mary Mathew and Mrs. Saranya S shared their experiences of the camp. The programme details were announced and the assembly concluded by National Anthem.
Bus Stop Cleaning Programme
After a nutritious breakfast served on time, the team commenced the bus stop
cleaning programme at 9 am. The students took on the responsibility of cleaning
the public bus stop in front of the school, along with its surrounding areas.
This involved removing unwanted plants, separating plastic waste from other
trash, and properly disposing of the collected waste. The programme concluded
by 12:30 pm. This activity held significant importance as it fostered a sense
of civic responsibility among the students. By cleaning a public space, they
not only contributed to the well-being of the community but also raised
awareness about the importance of cleanliness and proper waste management. The
hands-on experience taught them the value of teamwork, environmental stewardship,
and the need to maintain public spaces for a healthier society.

creating a garden using waste water bottles, highlighting the concept of
reusing materials. This activity emphasized the importance of recycling and
resourcefulness in addressing environmental issues. It taught the participants
that even small actions, such as repurposing waste, can make a positive impact
on the environment and promote sustainability.
Christmas Carol Programme
Following a refreshing tea break, the students prepared for a special
Christmas carol event. They visited the nearby town of Anappara, going
door-to-door to spread joy and Christmas cheer by singing carols and offering
festive wishes to the residents. This activity was significant as it reinforced
the spirit of community and togetherness. The students learned the value of
spreading happiness and building connections with people, regardless of their
background. It also taught them the importance of celebrating cultural
traditions and sharing kindness, which can create a positive and harmonious
atmosphere in the community.
Overall, the third day was filled with enriching experiences that promoted
physical well-being, environmental consciousness, personal safety, and
community bonding, leaving a lasting impact on the participants.
